Event / Columbus Family Mother’s Day 5K Run/Walk

5K Event Start Date/Time: Sunday, May 13, 2018, 8:00am

Thank you for showing an interest in Central Ohio’s 6th Annual Mother’s Day 5K, the 2018 Mother’s Day “INCLUSION REVOLUTION” 5K Run/Walk. This Event starts at 8:00am, on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 13, 2018. This is the first year of a re-branding where we transform our event to one that is inclusive of all, especially trying to accommodate those athletes with physical or mental disabilities.

In that spirit, we are going to have a dedicated 100-yard run/walk before the 5K for athletes and their support members. We hope our entire community can line up along the final 100 yards to the Finish line on Lamplighter Drive and cheer on these courageous athletes and their remarkable support members. The first ever Mother's Day 100 will start at 07:40am, before the 5K.

We are also working with two local charitable organizations: Team Heart and Sole and Grove City’s Buddy Ball organization to host the first ever Champions 5K. Both Buddy Ball and Team Heart and Sole provide athletes with disabilities a safe and rewarding experience in outdoor recreational endeavors. In endurance events (like a 5K) there are different ways to accommodate by using adaptive equipment (especially running chairs) to give these individuals a safe way to join in. They can feel the joy of traversing the Majestic Buckeye Parkway with all other 5K participants. Team Heart and Sole specializes in this and we appreciate their expertise in making our event more inclusive.

Team Heart and Sole will work with Buddy Ball and myself (Mark Sigrist) to provide volunteers to support these athletes in a safe endeavor on our course. Finally, all athletes registering for this Champions event, will be required to sign some liability waivers (a Medical Release signed by a physician, and a general event release) during the registration process.

Our Mother’s Day Event will be something the whole family can do together to create a unique, and lasting, family memory. We want families and friends to get off the couch, get moving, and create exciting memories of fun and adventure!
